SITRANS project advances: workshop on energy transition and governance

On December 16, 2023, a successful workshop for the SITRANS project unfolded during the Master's course of the Postgraduate Program "Energy Investments and Environment."

Professor Ioannis Bakouros led the session, accompanied by the team from the Institute of Civil Protection at the University of Western Macedonia, including Amalia Kouskoura, Evangelos Katsaros, and Eleni Kalliontzi.

A key aspect of the SITRANS project involves the establishment of the fully operational Just Energy Transition Observatory, with a specific focus on addressing Energy Poverty. This initiative aims to fulfill the dual objectives of evaluating the economic and social impacts of the energy transition at both regional and intra-regional levels, while concurrently developing an effective governance model for a just transition that integrates a place-based approach.

The workshop featured scientific presentations and interactive discussions between professors and students, marking a crucial step in fortifying collaborative efforts within the framework of the SITRANS project. This engagement is pivotal in advancing knowledge and fostering practical solutions in the realms of energy transition and governance.
